This does not correspond to vol. 1, p. 312 of Hooker's journal of botany and Kew Garden miscellany. Darwin cited this in Variation 2: 168n "Chamisso (Hooker's 'Bot. Misc.,' vol. i. p. 310) describes a variety of the bread-fruit in the Mariana Islands with small fruit, containing seeds which are frequently perfect."
