Hooker — does not know whether ever published at Stirling Castle old tradition that Kings Park once covered with broom in trenches cut during the two Rebellions in middle of 16 & 17th centuries, broom came abundantly in trenches & disappeared — & in recently years have grown in distri bury the ground.—

In Fifeshire the Reseda though a rare plant comes up in all Railway cuttings.—

Hooker says he thinks Richardson has some facts about plants springing up, when Rodent nests in N. America.—
