p. 89 2 great divisions of Sciurus , viz Funambula of India , & Madagascar, Spermosciurus of Africa - the true Squirrels are American, both in N. & S. America.

p. 90 cosmopolite Mammifers - many erroneous cases, but Waterhouse thinks perhaps sable is common to Europe & N. America?? - La Genette is common to S. & N. Africa & Europe?? Hyæna rayii & common to Senegal Abyssinia Persia, India.

Lion common to India & Africa -- Felis ligulata Agypt Cape of G. H.(?) & Asia. Le Guepard to Africa & India. Squirrel not common to Europe & America, nor Bears nor wolves, at least so thought. Close species latter.

p. 92 Excepting one Musaraigne of Surinam, the [Chrysochloe] range of Guyana & genus Solendon of St. Domingo there are Insectivora in S. America; good case of marsupials taking place of this order.

N. B. says in this Article same genera & some species same of Helmithoides in Man & monkeys.
