Seemann's voyage of H.M.S. Herald Vol I. p. 261 - shows that torrid zone animals cd migrate past Table of Mexico from Guayaquil to Mazatlan - For instance the armadillo is not found in Panama, but is found in Mazatlan in 23° 12' N. though undoubtedly a S. American form.

(Probably wd have perish & struggle, through many enemies, as countries generally occupied, & vegetation &c changes in long distances: but our domestic animals show how they do perish.
