Darwin cited this in Variation, p. 149: "Many facts are given on the breeding of the animals in that magnificent work, 'Gleanings from the Menageries of Knowsley Hall,' by Dr. Gray."

The brown crayon number '19' indicates that this document was filed by Darwin in his portfolio for the subject of Island endemism: animals.
