The great law of affinity of forms, I do not speak of identical species, is determined by mere geographical proximity, subject in each class to increase of dispersal. The area, also, a fleeting - it cannot be said that any particular over such areas.
Look on each side of Panama & Suez - compare lands & sea-shells of Madeira. Look at Bats. Look at distribution of mammals with relation to soundings - Access of same species seems to determine character of new creation.—
