Voyage Scientifique dans l'Altai par M. P. de Tchihatcheff 1845
p 449 Europe 143 mammals - : Siberia 92
Siberia has 26 species proper to Siberia, & 3 genera proper. Europe has 12 genera & 25 species proper. - N. America has a [illeg] of genera which are compensated by other genera in Asia & Europe, & has 1/3 of species proper, & different proportions of species as compared to Europe & Siberia. - Yet allows a unity of type with Europe & Asia.
p 456 in Kamtchatka one sees certain forms decidedly American, as Ovis montana & Spermophilus Parryi - & therefore is a tendency in Siberian mammalogy towards N. America.
p 465 - 45 F. W. Fishes, the greater part of species common to Europe - Carps & Silurus great families in Europe, Asia & N. America.
