Cuming says that the sea-shells (& land shells) of E. &. W. inter tropical Africa totally distinct.

N. B. The ostrich Giraffe & Hippopotamus of Sewallik, shows whence S. African animals came from?

The New Zealand & T. del Fuego sea shells very different in the Terebratulæ Patellæ, Fissurellæ & in [illeg], &c altogether very different. Except in Trophon, in which the species (or vars) are very clearly allied. But this is Arctic genus also, & some abnormalities also.
