Darwin cited Allan's information about Aldabra and other islands in Coral reefs, pp. 185-6. Allan and Darwin corresponded, but no letters between them are known to survive.

Dr. Allan's thesis - says Praslin is the island on which the Cocos de Mer is indigenous. - (Silhouette alone has snakes & scorpions) all isld except Mahi Silhouette. - Praslin. Curieuse - are of coral formation. Has heard there are monkeys in Comoro Isd but saw none or other quadrupeds
