Linn. Trans. XIV. p. 360. An account of a Collect. of Arctic plants by collected by E. Sabine by Sir W. Hooker.

(Quoted)

p. 361 Ranunculus nivalis in cold parts of Europe, Asia & America & on the Altaic alps of Siberia, I observe that several other arctic species are found on the Altai

p. 372. Epilobium latifolium, is confined entirely to high northern latitudes, viz Siberia Norway Greenland Iceland &c &c &c. I observe there are some few others there confined, that is not found on Alps or on low countries of Southern regions, ie created subsequently to cold period?

p. 376 Rhododend lapponicum, is Arctic, except only in Dahurian Alps.; Andromeda tetragona exclusively Arctic

p. 378. Oxyria reniformis a well known arctic plant is described by Dr. Torry as inhabiting James Peak (10,000 ft) in Rocky Mountains - appears however to be a variety

p 379. Polygonum vivaparum, an arctic & alpine plant, found in Canada & Labrador & by Dr Boott on summit of the White Mountains: Lychnis dioica was found very much dwarfed. Dr. Hooker has seen similar specimens, but less dwarfed from Scotch Mountains. Some arctic plants appear to be found only on Europæan Alps.

(I shd. suppose there are some peculiar Alpine Arctic Plants.
