Florula Gorgonica. P. Savi. 1844. Abst. Giornale Bot. Ital art I. fasc. 5 - isld half-way between Leghorn & Caprija (N. end of Corsica) Isld 145 metres high, 4 miles in circumference, not sterile, valleys cultivated, clothed with thickets. Geology various, serpentine & macigno uniform overbearing vegetation of thickets, no lake, no torrents, no marshes, no woods, no sandy beaches, no meadows. NB. He collected only for week, so not perfect, but thinks pretty perfect.

Some species very common on neighbouring mainland, as Trifolium pratense & Bellis perennis, not found here.

Of Dicot & Monocot (excluding cultivate plants) there are 284 species belonging to 188 genera, Hence 188/284 (1.5 to each genus ie Every pair of genera together have 3 species.

These 188 genera belong to 60 Families, each form having on average 3.1 genera.

It might perhaps have been expected in these of such cases as Coral islds that there wd have been a preponderance of certain Families adapted to certain situations, but we see this is not the case.
