p. 218 – remarks that Flora of Cape & of W. Tropical Africa totally different, whereas Birds & Animals often identical or allied species. It is only in Abyssinia "do any of the dominant & characteristic form of the Cape Flora re-appear" – Cape one of the most distant area in the world – Were Abyssinia & Cape Flora united in Ice period – Utter contrast with Flora of La Plata, but some considerable affinity with that of Australia viz in Proteaceæ & Restiaceæ.

 

p. 192 The metrosideros only species in S. Africa of section of mystic tribe, wh form great mass of Australian Veg.
