I believe physiological importance has no relation whatever in value of character for classification — Rudimentary organ, & rudimentary even in embryo— feather & hair — cœlospermous & - - - - orthospermous p 38b Ch. 7 in centre & exterior florets of Umbelliferæ — Jussieu on Malpighiaceæ.—

p 38c. large "our classification to scorn" which says— different order

This last example will serve as argument against for classification being in fact genealogical— so alters question.—
