J.K. Lord Naturalist in Vancouver I. 1866 vol. 2 p. 126 – describes the habits of a crow picicorvous Columbianus which has such immense claws that is was thought to be rapacious in its habits; but uses its strong feet to seize the cones of fir trees & with its powerful bill extracts the seed.
