If all variations appear first generally not at earliest period of life, (though potentially cause present in genom) & if they reappear at nearly corresponding ages, then the grand fact of similarity of embryonic structure is explained. If the proportion absolute embryo wd seem identical, but no doubt some effect is produced in embryo. If many appeared early, then, embryo [more] affected.

Even direct causes of variation wd not affect embryo
