"Hussey, Dr Thomas John, 1792-1866. Clergyman and astronomer & Anna Maria H (1805-53) mycologist, writer, and illustrator of Hayes, Kent. Her brother, George Varenne Reed, became tutor to CD's sons. As early as 1844 Jul. 11, ED wrote in her diary of having dined at the Husseys. They were present at a dinner party in 1851 Nov. 27. The other guests included Capt. Sulivan, the Innes and the Lascelles. In 1852 Oct. 6 while at Bromley, Mrs Hussey was visited. ED's diary." (Paul van Helvert & John van Wyhe, Darwin: A Companion, 2021, pp. 292-3.)
