Acerbis Travels to N. Cape Vol. II p 192. Some of female Rein-deer bear young annually (not the Pigs??), some biennially & receive distinct Lapland names; but do not appear to be distinct races. [insertion:] Embryology
p. 193 The ash-coloured hinds have fawns red at birth with stripe down their back - the red grows darker & is lost in autumn. Some rein-deer a white with ash-coloured spots; these always have white fawns.
p. 201. The wild Rein-deer larger; the bucks sometimes cross with the tame & are intermediate in size between the wild & tame
