[171]

July August 6th/56/ Killed Hen which was marked on left leg Feb 11. offspring of Hen Pouter paired with Cock Pouter, but certainly impregnated by Cock Fantail, for it was only white Bird in Pen. — now nearly 7 months old— Legs naked. I am almost sure were feathered

White all over, except some few minute dark specks on cheeks, neck &c &c except, broad black bar at end of tail & upper tail-coverts dark slate

Beak .73 from feathered base to tip —Tail Keeps expanded. — only 12 tail feathers. — 2 oil glands on a sort of bony projection. —

Killed pair of young Birds from Cock Pouter & Hen Fantail. — I think more elongated longer legs & longer than above. — White, but head with much more black; more scattered black feathers over back & very few in one on under side. — One bird much blacker tail; both had upper tail coverts black. — both only 12 tail feathers & oil glands

Tarsi in both slightly feathered & trace on toes.
