Field Sports of N. of Europe by L. Lloyd. Vol I

p. 285 The Capercaili occasionally breed with black-game; the size & colour of these hybrids depend on which species is cock & which hen, or vice versâ. (so that they cross both ways in wild state). Out of 20 of these hybrids, of the male gander not "two, according to Mr Falk are not alike; & the difference of colour observable" among the female hybrids (which are very rare) is still greater. —

[Natural selection, p. 454: "3 L. Lloyd. Field Sports of the North of Europe vol. I. p. 285; on the authority of Mr. Falk."]

[in margin:] (Reciprocity) Variability of Hybrid

Keep. Ch 3 Morton quotes Bechstein

p. 287. Capercaili will breed pretty readily in domesticated state (Q)

p. 314. According to Nilsson, the Black-Cock has crossed with the fowl. — but chick only survived few days. —

(see for Bechstein & these quotes)

[Natural selection, p. 436: "17 Lloyd states (Field Sports of N. of Europe vol I. p. 314) on the authority of Nilsson that the Black‐cock has crossed with the Fowl, but the chicks survived only a few days; but Nilsson is so excellent an authority that his statement, may, I should think, be trusted."]
