March /56/ Gould quite convinced me that the Ring-necked Pheasant a hybrid — he compared it with one known to be hybrid — the trace of line of white over eyes — the slightly more fulvous tinge on flank & sometimes trace of green on rumps.

They are larger, as most hybrids are. — They must be, at least, in considerable degree fertile. He showed me other hybrids between versicolor & colchicus & torquatus produced in Norfolk. — Very good case of blending of species. —17
