Silliman's Journal. vol 2. p. 77. The Fagus pumila of North America. planted beneath Spanish chesnut became impregnated by Lannias, & the seeds of the pumila being planted some of the young trees came up with leaves like Spanish Chesnut & grew much faster, & with improved size of fruit
