Forster. describes hybrid carp tench, gives provincial name from mixture of big & little scales from parents, also describes hybrid carp & crucian. These (flesh of former cross more like that of tench) some part of body with small scales & some with large) like two parents) both hybrids hardier than carp. D. B. [Daines Barrington] believes crucian is the Rud. or Fin scale of Brit. Zool. apparently the Ciprinus carausius of Linn.
