April 30 1866. Dimorphism
Saw at Bot. Soc. a Sparmannia with many stamens, of which outer were aborted & wrinkled & of widely different colour from the inner. I think of same colour with petals.
Does this latter fact explain colour of 1/2 rudimentary stamens in Clarkia.
& Melastomas.
