Jun 2d (Kew) Centradenia grandiflora (a melastoma) with 4 pale purple anthers apparently bent over to side on which pistil is bent at right angles; & other 4 anthers with much shorter projection
(do these projections represent one cell of anther)
& of yellow colour & I think straighten – any how structures very like Heterocentron.
Centradenia floribunda – all by anther apparently straight – pistil a little curved on one side? The taller anthers, are larger & very pale yellow & have little fork, & answer to purple ones in Heterocentron & face calyx. The shorter & smaller anthers are bright yellow & face segment of [illeg]. I am not sure about bending over of pistil; when the pistil is straight it reaches up level to the 4 higher anthers; (ie the representation of the purple anthers of Heterocentron)
/ over
[16v]
Both anthers of the latter species contained plenty of pollen – appearing equally good, & in water about 5/7000 in diameter.
