Flowers from Kew. – Sept 5 1862
Lopezia one of Onagraceae
4 sepals – 4 petals alternating with stem; two of them paler with gland [illeg] like anther 1. anther & one white petal or modified anther which encloses the [fertile] anther which alternate with the petals. This on anther & this on white petal both arises to the petals in Lythrum salicaria - & from my view of their nature – no for this one different family; but case shows that stamen may change into petals.
