Miscellaneous notes on Homologies
Lupine – ovarium
[sketch] spiral vessels spiral vessels
Crucifer & Lythrum – ovaries all 3 forms of Lythrum have 4 vessels [sketch]
Primula – 8 or 9 or 10 spiral vessels all arrowed & other in axis
In the Lupine or rather in small Pea the 2 typical vessels at the end of ovarium, (which may be considered as one) which does not bear the ovules run down the bundle which supplies the single calyx; the other two bundles at ovule bearing end of ovarium, run down opposite end of flower. But we know for Crucifer & Habernia, that the vessels of mid-rib above give homologies. Therefore the apparently single pistil in Leguminosæ, consists of compared with one of the 5 pistils of outer whorl

In Lupine I think the 5 arrow headed small anthers are merely, as in Spergula in process of abortion
In Erodium the stamen bearing anther face the sepals – gradation geranium, Pelargonium, the Erodium
In Erythrina length of pistil & its declination is very variable, but no difference in pollen of exterior form.
