Harlan. p. 265. The tapir has been found fossil possibly the rhinoceros in N. America & cervus Americanus nearest related (p. 275) to the N. Am. elk c. Aanadensis also Bos Bombifrons which displays considerable analogies with the B. Americanus. Also Bos Latifrons resembling in many respects. B. Urus. Also B. Pallacii resembling B. Moscatus. Also Trichecus (walrus) strongly related to the existing T. rosmarus. Is Bos moscatus N. American? Yes
