Lyell says in 15 localities (Mastodon horse &c decidedly after drift - so in Macrauchenia Patachonica - How wonderful - In Norfolk before drift!!! (a) & I think J. Smith says in Scotland - one molar found in the 'tile' (?) - N. American horse like S. American from great curvature of its molars. -
Lyell does not think much of the contrast of Secondary & Tertiary deposits, with respect to denudation - Has seen a sub-littoral Chalk-bed
