Carb. Limestone in Ireland 600 ft + 1000 to 1800 + 1000 ft. Devonian in S. Wales Phillips says in some places (p. 801) 7000 ft, mostly mechanical. Find out thickest of each formation & argue sum total of time & how little it wd be guessed, if strata examined in only one place.
