If my theory be true, whole geolog. forms of old & new world must be looked at as history of concession of ocean with continents of one portion of globe - one mere disjointed fragment of History of whole world - It may be said why not more ancient beds discovered with terrestrial remains in other portions of globe. On average there may have been metamorphosed or if there are any older yet preserved we may feel sure they would only be marine ones - caverns & [illeg] & littoral deposits all removed - we have only some examples of ancient Estuary.
