Feb 53/ From considering the struggle for existence & that all are linked together by complicated relations & that each tries to get the better, & when altered is found to be better in some respects compared with the others, we can understand why no one species shd be left on face of earth, from very old times, & why generally all species alter together. This applies even with some force to genera, not being persistent.

Selection of chance changes explain why time is clearly, often used vaguely
