Sillimans J v. 27 p. 380 Dr Morton's synopsis of remains of the cretaceous groups in the United States, gives a list of the living shell common to Europe & America, also gives a list of fossil shells common to the strata of Europe & America. It seems that the species in the chalk of the two countries are only analogous not identical.
