Darwin compared the anatomical measurements of the domesticated Aylesbury and wild duck in Variation 1: Chapter VIII.

Measure lengths of intestine of Aylesbury & wild Duck— also lengths of feathers — Weigh Duck, as I think perhaps weight of body wd be proper scale of comparison for the intestines.— The length of Body from Beak to tail best, on account of Fat.

It wd be proper to look to skeletons of species of Ducks to know whether the skeletons differ much—for comparison with tame.
