It wd be good to cross 2 vars of Cabbage or 2 vars of pigeons with a third & see result, but really in Pigeons & Dogs there can be no doubt of result.— (p. 581 of Gærtner). Because Gærtner give this as character of species viz that vars. do not produce much diversity when crossed with diverse species.—

Tropæolum majus (ie common Nasturtium) & minus. wd be good to experimentise on, because (p 723) considerably fertile & yet Gærtner suspects may be cross vars.—

It might be good to raise Alcea ficifolia alone in garden, & see whether leaves wd vary.
