July 15 ─ 1877 Lotus corniculatus ─ The 3 leaflets rise up & approach each other, & all those nearer apex of shoot make a somewhat compact bundle of leaflets at extremity of each shoot. The larger bracteæ also rise up & stand vertically.

Cytisus purpurea & laburnum do not sleep ─ nor broom, ─ nor several vicia. cracca & sylvestris?

[in margin:] Both surfaces slightly silvery, but upper surface most so.
