Lotus peregrinus

Sept. 21 stem secured to little stick & movement of terminal on middle leaflet traced on vertical glass — Plants in study window — at  to light — Fell to 12º 50' & then rise. Irregular movements due to changing light probably — on one occasion remained for 22' on same point. After 5º 35 was too much inclined for dip on glass.. See diagram. Next morning Sept. 22d 6º 50' had fallen very low down.—

Sept 22 traced in same manner another leaflet. First upward movement probably due to agitation & tying stem, though this species only slight sensitive. Fell to 1º 20' & then began to rise.— swing much to light. Twice remained at same point for 23' & 20'

At about 12' made little triangle apparently due to change in light. After 5º 45 was beyond glass — at 8º 30 was very highly inclined. Next morning Sept. 23d 7º A.m. was still highly inclined & had begun to awake [say] late

only slight zig-zags

Sept. 23d observed one of stipule on stem tied to stick — First rise perhaps doe to agitation; fell little 10º 53 & then rose turning to light

At 5º beyond glass & afterwards rose round more so in the clasp stem — Day moderately cloudy — Plant in same position with respect to light as yesterday.—
