(One Trifolium subterranean: circumnutation & sleep-movement of terminal leaflet (.68 of inch in length with its sub-petiole) during 24 hours traced from; filament fixed to midrib ; apex of leaflet only 3 7/8 of inch from the vertical glass, on which tracing made. The & movement as here represented shown (& reduce to 1/2 scale) magnified 5 1/4 times; nocturnal course greatly curtailed represented by dotted curved arrow. Plant illuminated from above. Temp. 16°-17°C.)
