Kidney beans — Horizontal Radicles

Dec 30.

The tips covered with black grease for 3 mm, and a mark made at 10 mm—; 10 9 have black tips, 6 have only the 10mm mark. For Allowed to grow in damp air on study chimney piece, covered with paper cap.

Fixed up 10.30 am, examined 5.38 pm ie after 7hr 8m

The average amount which the non blacked ones have bent is 54° below horizon

The average amount bent by the blackened ones (omitting No 12 as it has not bent at all) is 30°— Or including 12° it is 26°.

This shows that the unblackened ones begin to bend quicker.

Dec 31. 8.55 am after 22° 30' No difference visible to inspection between the bending down of whites & blacks; all have bent somewhat. The black tips have grown considerably

Two jars— with beans in damp air on study chimney chimney piece. covered with cap. In each jar there is one root only marked at 10mm & 3 with blackened tips— greased for 3 mm

In all therefore 2 control & 6 blackened.

From this it seems that the black bend quite as much as the white

All this shows is that there is no great difference also that white
