It is hard to say where the bend is it looks so far back that I can help thinking that beans were crooked I find but this jar was espec careful

3 10 beneath; the whole root is at this angle — 65 mm

4 tip abt 70° beneath 72mm (very rough measure)

Faba Tips cut obliquely

Jar F. Oct 13 4. 40 pm

Six had 1 1/2 mm from the extreme tip cut off at about 45°. Allowed to grow in water. No bending after 6hrs 20m.

Oct 14. 10. 15 am T. 12.7 C ie after 17hrs 35m

One No (3) well bent away from cut

Two others 4 & 5 well bent in plane at rt angles to the cut plane

Oct 15 9.15 am— ie after 40hr 35m Four including No 2 bent slightly

Oct 16 8.40am ie 64 hrs all four much increased

Result

Four out of 6 became clearly bent from cut— of these one was clearly bent in 17hr 35 (although it increased in curvature much afterwards) in 17hrs 35m; the 3 others began to bend in 40hrs 35 m, & were well bent in 64 hrs.

Summary 6/15 bent clearly from the inclined wet surface

Jar C / 5 roots          had 1mm

4 roots          [=] 9 —1.5mm} cut off [sketch] at about 45°

with root— In damp air — T 12.8°C

No bending at 11 pm ie after 6hr 20m

Oct 14. 10.33 pm ie after 30hrs — one No 2 (1 mm) sharply bent from mark.

Oct 15. 9.20 am. after 40hrs — 40m

No 2 still bent away,

No 4 (1mm) 5 1mm 9. 1.5mm} slightly bent away

(3/5 of them were 1 m. out of hour only 1 sharply)

4/9 bent

Oct 16 8. 40am — only No 4 became clearly bent away—

Oct 17 no change

Result

The only 2 clearly bent from the cut side [sketch] out of 9 were two of those which had 1 mm cut off. One of these ha was clearly bent in 30hrs; the other became clearly bent in 64hrs & was slightly bent in 40hrs 40m — No (They were examined finally on Oct 17 ie after about 24 hrs after the 64 hrs & no further change had occurred)—
