Geotropism
(when I mention sensitiveness at different ages &c)
The most curious case is that of the petioles of the Cots. of Ipomæa leptophylla; the basal part of which is strong geotropic, the upper part, [being] apogeotropic, except the part near the blades which owing to movement or nutation curves, bends for a time downwards & so as to become arched, while it breaks

through the ground & then straighten itself & continues to grow upwards.─
