Exposed for 46° to Apogeotropism
No effect. The stem fell nearly whole time for very short space probably merely gravity in slightly zig-zag line, which possibly indicate slightly circumnutation. & they moved obliquely to left on which side I held candle, but I doubt whether due to this— Young stem of Cyperus, not quarter grown— Young frond of Fern. — Observe

April 10' After keeping upright for a day the Fern & Cyperus placed vertically with same marks, & traced on Hor. glass in darkness. to see if any movement, when vertical.— perhaps too cold to grow in study — if so test Apogeotropism in Hot-House

As Cyperus nutated well when in Hot-House I suppose my study too cold for it or Nephrodium to nutate — but this very odd as weather not very cold— & fire in room — Whole case very odd
