[120]

April 4' 1876 Keep

Desmodium gyrans at 4° 30' P.m rubbed as above for 1' one of first pair of true leaves & it alone became depressed a little & these leaflets have no bloom)

Ap 5 pinched 2 young leaves on seedling, I think became depressed

Ap. 6th one of first pair stood at angle of 83°, rubbed with twig for 1' with finger below & in a few minutes fell to 58° 1/2 degree.

The 3d leaf rubbed stood at 100° rubbed upper surface alone for 1' angle fell only to 93°— after interval of 1/2 hour stood at 81°, supported with finger & rubbed for 1' in few minutes angle fell to 72°— There can be no doubt single leaves are sensitive to touching repeated.
