April 29th 1881. Phyllanthus compressus & consanguineous — nice young plants— shook 2 or 3 leaves for about 1' & left for 6', but no drooping or other movement of leaves caused.—

P. consanguineous sleep like a Cassia

P. compressus sleep like Hæmatoxylum — with midribs parallel to petiole-like branch & leaves vertical— if they were to also bend down, they wd occupy same position as those of P. consanguineous. —In both species lower surfaces exposed.—

P. consanguineous— both surfaces of leaves silvery — not so cotyledons
