Nov 14th 77. Red Cabbage & Chloroform

Tall seedlings with no true leaves.— was nutating & at 2° exposed to little vessel with chloroform under moderate bell-glass, continued moving, apparently normally for 1° 30', but in 26' later sunk suddenly from drooping of plant & in 30' still later all the plant now on the ground & apparently killed.— (I shd think 1/2 Hour quite enough to expose cots of Mimosa pudica.)
