Cassia calliantha
Aug 15th 10° A.m.— Put a leaf under dripping machine 2 drippers one at height of 10 inch & the other 12 1/2 inches. At 11° leaflet not at all wet
11° 20' some drops on leaflet not quite spherical
12' 30' a small space wet.—
3° 2 leaves wet over a small space
Aug. 18' yesterday one leaflet detached itself & this morning 2 were detached; yet the drip drops do not fall on the articulation of sub-petiole with main petiole. This is curious effect of drip, & shows probably the importance of leaves bending when struck with greater force by drops in thunder-storm. But in this case the leaflets rested on cork.— Leaflets not in the least browned.—
Aug 19. 8° A Altogether 6 leaflets have disarticulated & fallen off.—
Aug. 26' Every one of the leaflets beyond those which were dripped on have fallen off.—
