Translation of parts of the bit about Porliera, from the latin of Ruiz & Pavon,
"On the first dawning of a fine day the leaves begin to open, and after two hours appear almost open.
But when the present day is cloudy & stormy then the leaves begin to open after sunrise, ie affected by Light & exhibit themselves opened out before an hour and a half has elapsed.
While if a heavy rain has fallen in the afternoon & the plant has become wet, the leaves are almost shut before or a little after sunset. ie again dark
// If the following day is going to be fine they begin to shut half an hour before sunset, but if the following day is going to be cloudy & stormy they begin to open shut already an hour before sunset
