Anoda Wrightii (Malvaceæ)

Growing out of doors in the Botanic Garden at Würzburg

Where the lamina joins onto the petiole there is a swelling but it is not distinct enough to be called a joint

Three leaves were observed at rather irregular times between not earlier than 11 am & or later than 8 pm from July 30 to Aug 2. 1878

The movement of the petiole seems to be very irregular but there is usually a rise of 10º-15º at night. The extreme angles taking night & day together are in all 3 leaves observed, are 50º above the horizon, & 75º above

The position of the leaves may be said to vary in the day between horizontal & 25º below horizontal, & at night

between 55º below & 35º below: The greatest fall at night observed was 45º 30º, from 5 25º below to 45º 55º below; the smallest was from 20º below to 35º below
