Anoda Wrightii Sep 2 1879
Examined big leaves of 2 1/2 & 2 1/4 inches long, and small leaves of 1.45 inches and 1.65 inches long. These were from spirit specimen. The leaves marked by cutting off tip seem to have been about 2 in long judging by one measured [sketch] by filling in the tip by imagination.
The pulvinus in the big leaves reminds me of Sida the cells being having their long axis transverse to the axis of the petiole & yet not have the regular pulvinus look of an Oxalis for example.
In the small leaves the pulvinus is certainly present but
It is less well defined than in the big leaves
But the difference is not enough to account for the young leaves not sleeping at all
