June 11 to morning of 13th 1878

Oxalis Plumieri

Circumnutation of terminal leaflet.

Leaf consist of 2 lateral & a terminal leaflet, with rather long petiole, which was secured to stick close to base of the 3 leaflets. [sketch]

Observed under skylight. Temp 15 1/2 to 16 1/2 C. Tip of leaflet 6 3/4 from vertical glass. Movement quite simple. up & down during whole 24° day —

At night vertically down & cannot be traced. Rise rapidly in morning, then moves very slowly, in midday moves moves a little laterally, but up & down lines do not coincide.— & about 5° P.m. begin to sink rapidly, so as to be abo almost perpendicularly down at about 7° or 8° P.m.— Has risen considerably abo by about 8° a.m.
