July 14th 1878 Mimosa albida
I cut off 1 pinna & fixed filaments with sight to rudimentary & opposite leaflet & traced under Bell-glass in study. Temp 20°C. during day.
The common leaf made completed one large ellipse in with longer axis horizontal & then in evening moved downward & inwards—
The rudimentary leaflet also made a large ellipse with a supplementary small one between 12° & 2°, but no great difference between this movements.— The leaf did not recover very well from the 1 pinna having been cut off, or from the filaments having been affixed to leaves.
